I have graduated from Boston University six-year medical program in 1978. I did an ophthalmology residency on Long Island for three years and opened my practice in 1982. I am a board-certified ophthalmologist. I have been practicing ophthalmology for 25 years. I started to do refractive surgery approximately 20 years ago. I am the first to own a laser, an excimer laser, on Long Island. We did our first LASIK procedure here approximately 12 years ago. I have patients from all over the country. I have patients who come to see me for refractive problems throughout the world actually. The best thing about being a refractive surgeon is seeing patients coming in the first day when they have been wearing contacts or glasses all of their lives and all of a sudden they wake up and they can look out the window and see across the street. There is nothing greater than seeing a patient who is seeing 20/20 less than 24 hours after having laser correction.
