Over the last 20 years of doing refractive surgery, I have come to realize how difficult it can be for patients to come in and have somebody even go near their eyes or touch their eyes and here at the Weinstein Refractive Center we really try to make the experience as pleasant as possible. It is a one-on-one relationship with myself and the patient. We do not allocate jobs to other people so that the patient comes in and they are going to see me for their evaluation, they are going to see me during the surgery, they are going to see me after the surgery, so that there are no links in the chain that can break down. I am used to talking to patients throughout the procedure to relax them, to make them feel comfortable, and the procedure itself is relatively short so that patients do find that it is not as hard as they thought it would be. It is difficult to let somebody do anything to you especially on your eyes, but I have come to learn how to make the patient feel relaxed and I think they leave with a sense that they have been well taken care of.
